“Is a common view too common?”
Grab a Peirce Quincuncial world map and try to spot where you live.
Not so easy, is it?
Our brains love shortcuts. We remember a point on the map, not the true geography around it. That’s why the same place can feel unfamiliar on a different projection.
I first discovered this while studying psychology. Since then, I’ve learned to use this phenomenon to my advantage: flipping even the most familiar problem upside down to see it from a fresh angle.
That’s how I approach my work—and my life.
